Wow, this is great! I just found a video a chef made that talks about our cactus!
Really and truly, we've had a lot of chefs rave about our cactus before, and we're served in some of the finest restaurants in California!
We're continually honored by the way people like our cactus, and it is a really good feeling to provide what seems to be known as among the world's finest edible cactus.
Web MD is a good source for health news. Here they discuss Nopalea cactus which many of our customers say helps control their diabetes.
Prickly pear cactus is used for type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, obesity, alcohol hangover, colitis, diarrhea, and benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH). It is also used to fight viral infections.
How does it work?
Prickly pear cactus contains fiber and pectin, which can lower blood glucose by decreasing the absorption of sugar in the stomach and intestine. Some researchers think that it might also decrease cholesterol levels, and kill viruses in the body.
Many of our customers say they take cactus as a medicine. It does not take much to regulate blood sugar. It is said to slow the absorption of sugar into the body and reduces the spikes in sugar levels. This is an endorsement of a prepared cactus juice that is marketed nationally.
People can buy our fresh organic edible cactus and see if they get the same benefits.
Nopales fried with eggs is one of the simpler cactus recipes, and one of my favorites.
Just get the sliced cactus frying in some oil, when almost done crack some eggs in and stir until cooked, then spoon out into tortillas. To make the best of this dish, fry some potatoes and onions first, then add the cactus and eggs when almost done. Season with garlic and peppers.... this makes the BEST breakfast burrito you've ever had... especially if you use a good cactus salsa to season it.....
Oh dang, I'm so hungry now.
And I just love how people like the taste of cactus, and tell everyone about it, and I don't even have to pay them!
Dr. Oz uses some funnels and such to illustrate how it is thought eating cactus helps control the flow of sugar into the body, and thereby help relieve some of the symptoms of Type II diabetes for some people.
Many of our customers say that eating just a little of the cactus every day or two helps maintain their proper blood-sugar levels. I'm not a doctor, so I have to rely on the doctors (and customers) to know these things.
A lady shows us how to fry cactus. This is an excellent method with our cactus.... or even better is grilled over coals with olive oil and salt/pepper/garlic. It's nice to hear her speak of it's benefits to diabetics. I just am really happy that other people will advertise cactus for us!
